Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Zagora
We pick you up from your hotel and take you on a journey starting in Marrakech. We drive through Tizi Ntichka pass (elevation: 2260m) to reach the UNESCO world heritage site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning fortified village (Ksar). After lunch at a traditional restaurant, we visit Kasbah Taourirte and the Atlas & CLA Studios in Ouarzazate, known as “The Hollywood of Africa” for its movie productions such as Lawrence of Arabia and Sahara. In the Kasbah, you’ll climb to the top for a panoramic view of Skoura palm groves.
Next, we visit the Berber village of Agdez and admire the scenery along the Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s largest palm tree plantation and many fortified Kasbahs and oases. Late in the day, we arrive at Zagora desert for a 1-hour camel trek through the desert to witness an incredible sunset and stay in a Nomad Berber Tent for the night. Dinner will be at your desert camp.
Day 2: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After sunrise breakfast, we’ll disassemble the camp and leave the desert on camelback. We’ll return to our starting point, then head to Ouarzazate, ending with a hotel drop-off in Marrakech.
